Stablecoin payments and settlement
How USDC payments are quoted and verified, and the risks involved.
Buying goods, not crypto
A customer paying by card buys your goods. Orion never secretly converts a card payment into a crypto purchase. If a provider's model requires the customer to buy crypto, its disclosures and the customer's consent come first.
Direct USDC payment (sandbox simulation)
- Choose a network. You receive an exact amount, the token contract, a recipient and a quote expiry.
- Amounts use exact decimal maths, rounded up to 6 decimals.
- The sender pays network fees.
- The order reference is held by Orion — no memo is needed.
Verification rules
A transfer is credited only when it is on the right network, uses the allowlisted token contract, goes to the right recipient, executed successfully and reached the required confirmations. A transfer is allocated to one payment only, and one payment pays one order. Transfers reorganized out of the chain before finality are not counted.
Exceptions
- Underpayment: order stays unpaid; top up or resolve.
- Overpayment: order is paid; excess is refunded.
- Wrong network or token / after expiry: not credited; reviewed manually; recovery may be impossible.
Risks
Stablecoins are issuer liabilities and are not guaranteed to hold their value. Transfers cannot be reversed by Orion. Whoever holds a wallet's keys controls it; Orion cannot recover lost wallets.
