Refunds and disputes
How refunds are requested and completed, and how to respond to disputes.
Refunds
- Request from a payment's page, or
POST /v1/refund-requestswith an idempotency key. - Authorization — confirmed before anything is sent to the provider.
- Provider submission → Pending → Completed or Failed.
- Customer notification and reconciliation are recorded.
Refunds cannot exceed the amount paid less earlier refunds; simultaneous requests are checked under a lock.
Stablecoin refunds go to a destination the customer confirms — not automatically to the sending address, which may belong to an exchange.
Disputes
- You get the reason, amount and deadline.
- Complete the evidence checklist and submit before the deadline.
- The card issuer decides through the provider. Orion records the outcome and adjustment.
- Missed deadlines usually lose.
- Stablecoin settlement does not remove card dispute obligations.
