Merchant onboarding and approval
The ten onboarding steps and what happens after you submit.
The ten steps
- Business identity — legal name, trading name, entity type, registration, addresses, website.
- Authorized representative — who is applying and confirmation of authority.
- Ownership — owners and controlling persons, per the selected provider's requirements.
- Business activities — your actual products, countries, sales channels, subscriptions, fulfilment, third-party sellers.
- Processing profile — volumes, average and maximum ticket, currencies, history.
- Website readiness — contact details, product descriptions, pricing, shipping, cancellation, refund, privacy and terms pages.
- Settlement preference — bank or wallet. Account details are added later, separately.
- Documents — the sandbox accepts fictional samples only.
- Agreements — review drafts with version numbers.
- Review and submit — check everything and submit.
You can save and return at any time.
After you submit
- Submitted → Internal Review. Orion works through checklists covering business verification, ownership, website, product catalogue, fulfilment, refund policies, processing history, limits and provider requirements. Automated risk flags explain why they were raised; people decide.
- Information Required. If Orion needs more, you will see a request in the portal. Updating and resubmitting records a new version.
- Ready for Provider Submission → Submitted to Provider → Provider Review. The provider reviews and decides.
- Approved, Conditionally Approved or Declined. Orion's status is shown separately from the provider's.
Important
- Submission is not approval, and approval is never guaranteed.
- Each merchant, website and product category is approved on its own; nothing is inherited.
- Previous declines must be disclosed.
